As professional sports turf contractors, we recommend a full pitch renovation programme for your playing surface at the end of each playing season. Applying the correct dressing materials to rebuild and reinstate the play surface is very important. The correct use of good quality seed and fertiliser along with a correct aeration programme will help give a healthy solution to the perfect surface.

Ongoing maintenance during the playing season
During the playing season, grounds require regular maintenance to keep a healthy surface. We recommend a programme of works including regular cutting, verti-cutting, top dressing, verti-draining, fertilising, matt in dressing, over-seeding, brushing and collecting.

Golf Course Greens
The areas of a golf course that see the heaviest traffic are the tees and the greens. These key areas of a course require cutting and maintenance, at least three times a week during the growing season and for some of the most exclusive courses, this can increase to anything up to a 7 day a week maintenance programme.
Golfing fairways will need cutting twice a week throughout the year although this can usually be reduced to a once weekly maintenance programme between November and March. To maintain the putting quality, smoothness and uniformity of the greens we recommend a twice yearly programme of works including aeration, brushing, verti-cutting, fertilising and top dressing. This will help to relieve compaction in those heavy traffic areas, improve drainage on the greens and aid root growth.
We will create a bespoke programme of works to suit individual club requirements. This will be geared to regular light maintenance, ensuring consistent green quality throughout the year and minimal disruption of play.
Cricket Pitch Renovation
The cricket season wreaks havoc on playing surfaces up and down the country on a yearly basis. Renovations need to be carried out at the end of the playing season to renew the quality of the pitch and ensure optimum playing conditions for the following season.
Most of the work should be completed in the autumn including; scarification, deep scarification, seeding, top dressing and feeding. These processes, when carried out correctly, will repair the wear and tear incurred from playing and remove any debris from the turf. This firms the surface for a consistent bounce and ensures healthy new growth to maintain excellent coverage.
In November and December the grounds should be verti-drained to complete the renovation. Verti-draining punches holes into the ground, which assists with root development, relieves compaction and helps with drainage.
